FADE IN
EXT. BASEBALL FIELD - NIGHT
PETER, a 60 year old man, packs up his baseball equipment at
the field. Puts it in his bag and walks toward his car.
PETER
(V.O)
The day that my KELLY was born, the
truth is that I didn't feel much
joy...Because the disappointment
that I felt seemed to be stronger
than the great event of having
child.
(beat)
I had always wanted a boy. Two days
after the birth, I went to pick up
my two women.
INT. HOUSE - NIGHT
(FLASHBACK)
TANYA normal complexion, a 40 year old woman with black
hair, PETER and KELLY a ten year old girl, sit at the table
and Peter gives Kelly a piece of red-packaged chocolate and
smiles.
PETER
(V.O)
As time went by, I was left
captivated by your smile and began
to love you like crazy.
EXT. BEACH - DAY
Peter and an older 30 year old KELLY are sitting on a trunk
from a dried birch tree on the beach front.
KELLY
You always gave me everything that
I needed. Thankfully I didn't
always get what I asked for because
when I begged the most, was usually
when I needed it the least.
PETER
When you first collapsed at age 11,
I died for the first time. Your
mother and I knew that the chances
of you contracting this type of
disease were high.
KELLY
I wasn't scared. I knew that as
long as I was with you, there was
nothing to fear...But back then I
had no idea what you were capable
of.
PETER
When we were in the hospital and I
found out that you didn't have much
of a chance. I prayed to God and
asked him to help you and give me
the strength to do absolutely
anything to ease the pain and make
you better.
KELLY
At the time, I couldn't understand
why, but today I can truly
appreciate it and say that I won't
ever forget what you did.
PETER
When you asked me if you were going
to die after hearing when the
doctors..
Kelly Interrupts.
KELLY
You promised me that you wouldn't
ever see me pass on.
PETER
..but if you died, you could come
back whenever you wanted...and
visit your Mother and I.
KELLY
You told me that you wouldn't leave
me alone. If one day something were
to happen to you and you were gone
that you'd find a way to still be
around.
PETER
I have yet to think twice or
regretted the decision I made.
Kelly is sitting alone on the tree trunk and all you can
hear is the wind blowing in the background.
KELLY
As a last resort, you would use the
wind to come see me.
Peter walking away dissolves and Kelly notices a piece of
her favourite childhood red-packaged chocolate. She takes a
bite looks up and has one tear sliding down her cheek.
